ELEMENTARY TEACHER PK-6 FULL TIME

QUALIFICATIONS:                  NYS Certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)

                                                          Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2) ~ Preferred

SALARY RANGE:                      As per negotiated NCTA contract

DESCRIPTION:  North Collins Elementary School is seeking a highly qualified teacher that has a combination of skills and attributes that align them with the North Collins Central School District Mission. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that all students in their care achieve at their highest levels academically, are safe both physically and emotionally, and are successful socially. Reports to the building principal.

  1. Passionate about caring for and helping children;

  2. Working knowledge of the literacy and numeracy needs of students PreK-6;

  3. Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum model as well as contribute ideas to enhance the academic programs;

  4. Effective verbal, written, and electronic communicator;

  5. Capable of integrating technology resources into curriculum and instruction;

  6. Able to maximize student effort and success both academically and socially;

  7. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, parents, colleagues, staff, administration, and the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, provide and reflect on high-quality, targeted instruction to individual as well as small and large groups of students using research-based strategies and resources;

  2. Manage the classroom in a positive manner and keep students engaged, on task, and collaborative;

  3. Actively collaborate with colleagues, sharing student work, methodologies, and strategies in order to create a coherent curricular design;

  4. Reflect on and adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests;

  5. Observe and evaluate students' academic performance, behavior, and social development;

  6. Confer with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic difficulties;

  7. Attend and participate in team and faculty meetings, educational conferences, and workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence;

  8. Communicate regularly with parents about both positive and negative actions of students;

  9. Prepare, administer, and review all required student assessments;

  10. Perform any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor / Administration.
