Letter from the Superintendent

Scott Taylor

I would like to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year.  I am excited and honored to begin my 7th year as Superintendent of North Collins Central School District. As an administrative staff, we enjoyed preparing for the upcoming school year and look forward to the vast amount of musical, student, and athletic activities that fill the year.

We had a number of new hires this year, so there will be new faces in the buildings. Please feel free to introduce yourself to any of our staff during the various activities throughout the year.  Remember to check our website for the most up to date information regarding our District as well as our Twitter and Facebook sites.

In addition to personnel preparation, we have updated our facilities and continue to take advantage of NYSED Capital Outlay Projects (less than $100,000). We recently completed a Capital Outlay Project at the Jr-Sr. High School, which included the upgrading of the Public Announcement system and clocks throughout the building. We are now planning for similar work to be completed at the Elementary School by the end of this school year.

As mentioned in previous updates on the topic of Capital Projects, we are currently in the Design Phase for Phase 1 of our Capital Project approved in May 2022. Phase 1 includes roof replacement and/or repair at both buildings.  Our goal is to submit our plan to NYSED in September 2022 and wait for the constructability review and approval (hopefully by January 2023).  Once approved, work will be scheduled for the summer of 2023.  Phase 2 (all remaining scope) of the project will be planned and prepared during this school year. Our goal is to have approval from NYSED by the fall of 2023 and work to begin in the spring of 2024. This project continues to support our mission of providing a “safe and supportive learning environment that strives to maximize educational opportunities for all students.”  We are fortunate to work in a special community that allows us to accomplish so much for our students. I will keep you updated via our website and social media outlets on our progress.

I would also like to THANK Mr. Matt Sanders, Director of Facilities, and Mr. Al Durrett, Head Bus Driver and their staff who have been truly amazing throughout the summer months getting ready for the upcoming year. THANK YOU to all of our staff readying the school district for the 22-23 school year!

On behalf of the Board of Education, the faculty and staff, the administrative team, and most importantly, the students — thank you for your continued support.

I hope to see you along the way,

Scott Taylor, Superintendent
